This stainless steel straight edge is used in metrology and quality assurance. It helps to detect unevenness, curvatures, or deviations from straightness on surfaces and workpieces. It makes the smallest deviations visible that cannot be seen with the naked eye alone.
This function can also be used when making clarinet reeds. With the straight edge, you can detect the finest unevenness at the tip of the reed, allowing you to make your reed making even more precise.
Note: due to production tolerances the straight edge is designed to be held standing vertically against the workpiece and not laid on it's side.
