This shaper was translated from an unknown Klopfer shape. The wide throat provides for comfortable airflow while the slight inward curve of the blades provides clarity and focus.

Our straight shapers for bassoon have several unique features:
Silicone inserts at the center of the shaper hold profiled cane in place while shaping, and can be removed for those who shape their cane before profiling.
Markings at the thinnest point of the shaper hightlight the point at which the blade and shaping direction should be reversed.
The outer pair of lines are set 118 mm apart (148 mm for contrabassoon), to help center cane cut at this shorter length.
