In collaboration with Frank Morelli we have produced a straight shaper version of his personal shape. Frank Morelli is well known as a bassoon soloist, chamber musician and teacher, and was the first bassoonist awarded a doctorate by the Juilliard School.
Accurate and unique
Our straight shapers for bassoon have several unique features:
Silicone inserts at the center of the shaper hold profiled cane in place while shaping, and can be removed for those who shape their cane before profiling.
Markings at the thinnest point of the shaper hightlight the point at which the blade and shaping direction should be reversed.
The outer pair of lines are set 118 mm apart (148 mm for contrabassoon), to help center cane cut at this shorter length.
Variety of Forms
In order to guarantee absolute symmetry, we manufacture our shaping forms using the latest CNC technology. Through complex hardening processes, the contour remains unchanged cut by cut – for years to come.
